Most Christian leaders around the world now acknowledge that we are living in a post Christian era. Living in the Thumb this seems a little difficult to accept, which is still strongly influenced and shaped by the values inherent in the Christian faith. But even here one doesn't have to dig very deep to get beneath that veneer. What this speaks to me is that its even more important to take seriously the charge found in Matthew 4:14-16 about letting “our lights shine before men”. While most of us go out of our way to keep from drawing attention to ourselves, Jesus calls us to live lives of integrity and righteousness that by their very nature call for attention from the world. The Sr. High youth at the church that Rose Mary and I attend have taken the name for themselves of “Uncommon”. In a day where the Pew research group states “most Christians are indistinguishable from the world in which they live” this name is a challenge to these youth to dare to be different. That sums up in a meaningful way a part of what our mission here at Bay Shore is all about. While its critical to “call folks into a life changing relationship with Jesus Christ”, our goal is to also be an equipping ground for living out this relationship before the world so that it becomes a light to those around us. Do you want to live a life that shines the Love of God to the World, or helps others to do so? Let us help you plan an event or come join in one of ours where your life will be brightened with the Love that lasts forever.

Yours in Christ's Service,

Mike Coffey, Executive Director
